Love him or hate him, President Donald Trump is back in telecom news, as he signed an executive order this week to promote the expansion of broadband internet into rural areas that currently lack connectivity. The order was signed in conjunction with Trump's speech at the American Farm Bureau Federation convention in Nashville.
According to
The Tennessean, during his speech, the President declared, "The American dream is roaring back," and then spent 35 minutes defending his first year in office.
But that's not why you're here.
Per Fierce Telecom, there were actually two orders signed. The first will instruct the Department of Interior to dedicate a portion of its assets to rural broadband installation. The second streamlines the network installation process by requiring agencies to use standardized forms and contracts for installing antennas on federal buildings.
"Those towers are going to go up and you are going to have great, great broadband," Trump said in his speech.
