How fun to come upon this adult White-eyed Vireo at Woodlawn Beach SP on the 24th!

Early October is the best time to go looking for Nelson’s Sparrows. This individual was found and photographed on the 5th at Conewango Swamp WMA by John McKay.

The exquisite golden lighting on this American Golden-Plover really makes for a spectacular photo. Brad Reinhardt captured this image on the 4th at Wainfleet Wetlands CA, Ontario. Note the long primary extension and slimmer bill as compared to Black-bellied Plover.

White-rumped Sandpipers tend to pass through on their way south fairly late in the autumn. This individual was photographed by Pawel Starski on the 10th near St Catharines, Ontario. Note the pale eyebrow, the few well-defined streaks on the flanks and the long primary projection.

This Nelson’s Sparrow was a great find by Phil Mills at Ruddy Marsh, Tonawanda WMA on the 3rd. Willie D’anna refund the bird the following day, on the 4th, and documented with this photo. Note the blurred streaks/smudges at the side of the breast and the bright ochre color in the face and breast.

This White-eyed Vireo was found by Andy Guthrie at Golden Hill SP on the 19th. Joel Strong and Willie D’anna found the bird the following day when Strong took this image.

Orange-crowned Warblers are one of the latest southbound migrant warblers to pass through the BOS Study Area and they will winter on rare occasions. Sue Barth photographed this bird at Woodlawn Beach SP on the 28th.

Charlie Kaars hit gold when he found this juvenile Parasitic Jaeger resting on the shore at Woodlawn Beach SP on the 2nd! Note the warm brown tones to the head as well as the fair amount of white at the base of the primaries.
